Spanish Culture

Spain is a country with nearly forty million people and has kept a fairly stable democratic government. With the world’s ninth largest economy it is evident that Spain is a middle class country. Spainish culture clings to its traditions and has the potential to exert immense cultural influence throughout the world.  Unfortunately 15 percent of the workforce is unemployed. Spaniards are extremely loyal to their town and region. Spain is divided into 7 different regions that speak a total of 4 different languages.  People are shocked by the bigness and bareness of Spain .

Spain is a little larger than Texas and is the second largest nation in Western Europe.  The country is filled with bare mountain range, bone-colored rocks, hills, flat heaths and bleak plateaus. Travelers often say that when they visit Spain they cannot tell whether they are in California or Catalonia because everything looks the same. The landscape is described as a rocky castle with a few lovely valleys.  About 70 percent of the country stands above 1,500 feet. On the surface there are some mountains that have snow all year round and deserts that hardly get rain.

Weather in Spain is rather strange. It can change from cold to hot and hardly the country ever has Fall or Spring.  Spain is split because on one side the sun hovers over the land and on the other side it consistently rains.  Spain is definitely a country of variety and contrasts.

Spaniards are referred to the oldest people in Europe. People of Spain are very short and have a lot of common sense. They have pride in themselves and believe that they are here to kill. Spaniards do not avoid death and feel that they have a gift. Their pride can be seen by their bearing and behavior. Individualism to Spaniards means that they are eccentric.  There is a string of powerful social acceptance in Spain , which means parents are responsible for who their children want to marry. They are warriors without weapons.

No longer is Spain a land of extremes in wealth or poverty.  This country has an average of around $27,000 for household income and is rising every year.  The public health system provides free care to all residents even though people of Spain are heavy drinkers and smokers.  Spaniards have the longest life expectancy in Western Europe. However, the country still has problems with its political, economical and moral values. Spaniards presently feel that they would not be willing to give their life for the country.  Their loyalty is to their family, they would sacrifice anything for their families.  Currently, Spain has the lowest birthrate in the world. The majority of Spaniards are against killing innocent bystanders as well as chosen enemies. Cultures are important in all countries and are Spain is extremely known for its diverse traditional culture.
