Spanish Foods & Recipes
A country’s cuisine is its
landscape in a cooking pot and
Spain has expressed that with its variety of
foods.
Combinations made with fish, meat or poultry are normal used
in everyday dishes. Sausage is favored in Spain
and prepared with several dishes. Spaniards add ingredients
such as, mushrooms, cheese, oranges and lemons to the food
for taste. They
throw in some hot sauce for kicks and flavor. Of course tomatoes,
peppers, potatoes and corn are must need ingredients for
Spanish dishes.
While the cuisines
of the Spanish region are widely diverse, they have some things in
common with other countries. Tastes are extremely similar in
national dishes among the different countries. Sauces are used for many Spanish
dishes and sometimes it is the sauce that really makes the dish a
success. Not only are
sauces used, but there are also a variety of spices involved in the
creation of a dish.
Spices bring out the dish’s flavor. In today’s society more people
are choosing to eat spicy foods and Spanish food is full of hot
spicy peppers such as, jalapeños, which makes the dish fire in the
mouth.
Tapas are covered dishes
which vary from simple to complex including fish, eggs, cheese,
vegetables, dips, pastries and more. Tapas make an excellent meal,
typically because of the portions of food contained in the
dish. Americans
and Spaniard’s life-styles are vastly different when it comes to
eating habits.
Spaniards have a light breakfast around 8:00 a.m. Then they follow
that up with a mid-morning breakfast at 11:00
a.m. They enjoy
tapas around 1:00 p.m. and then have a three-course lunch
around 2:00 p.m.
Snack times are around 5:00 p.m. and they typically have
pastries and tea. Later on around 8:00 p.m.
they will have evening tapas following up with a three-course
dinner around 10:00 p.m. Americans do not have enough time
throughout the day to digest that much food. Spaniards definitely eat
more than the average American.
